Sourav Ganguly Reveals His Interest On Becoming A Head Coach Of India

Sourav Ganguly has always been one of the greatest contributors to Indian cricket. Be it as a player or after his cricketing career, Sourav Ganguly always served the Indian cricket in various ways. Now, he reveals his interest in becoming the head coach of the Indian National Cricket Team.

The 47-year-old is currently the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president, besides being associated with IPL franchise Delhi Capitals as the Team Advisor. He also does cricket commentary and is the host of a popular Bengali quiz show.

Ganguly went on to add that he doesn’t want to think ahead of his time and wishes Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri can achieve more success in the immediate future. Ganguly wants to wait for his time and then throw his hat in the mix to coach the team.

One of India’s most successful captains, Ganguly was the chairman of the previous Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which picked Shastri as the Head coach last time. Later, the recently-appointed CAC, led by Kapil Dev with Anshuman Gaekwad and Shanta Rangaswamy as other members also picked the same person to lead the team.

“In any case, I am already a coach. I look after the Delhi Capitals in the IPL. In my first season last year, they did well. They went to the semifinals from being last for last seven years so it’s been good,” he further added.

“Currently, I’m associated with too many things — IPL, CAB, TV commentary. Let me complete this. But I will definitely put my hat at some stage. Provided I get selected. But definitely, I’m interested. Not now but in the future,” Ganguly had earlier said when the hunt was on to find the new Indian head coach.

India are favourites –

Sourav Ganguly concluded the interview saying that the Indian team is a firm favourite to win the upcoming Test series against South Africa. He believes that it takes a special effort from the opposition to beat India in India.

“India are favourites. India at home is a dangerous team. They are very hard to beat and that’s been the case for years,” Ganguly said about the upcoming India-South Africa Test series.

Well, it would be interesting to see when would Sourav Ganguly takes the role. Most probably, he would throw his hat when the current term of Shastri as the head coach concludes.
