Sourav Ganguly To Meet Rahul Dravid With Focus On Injury-Management Of Players

The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly will meet the Head Of Cricket at National Cricket Academy Rahul Dravid regarding the injury-management of the players. Recently, NCA came under the scanner after failing to sort out the issues of India’s ace bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had undergone rehabilitation for a long time and finally, made his comeback in the shorter format of the game against West Indies. But, after playing three games, he once again faced issues with his back. Eventually, he was ruled out of the ODI series against the same opposition.

While in Bhuvneshwar’s case, multiple scans failed to detect the bowler’s sports hernia, they have denied conducting Tests for Jasprit Bumrah. The issue will be the prime focus of the meeting. Besides that, there will be a discussion on the appointment of the Board’s New Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly wrongly suffered:

Already, in the recent past, Sourav Ganguly has underlined that the appointment of the CAC would be a “one-off” and they will then be responsible for picking India’s senior selection committee. Most probably, this time, the CAC will be comprised only with two members, unlike last time, which was a 3-member committee. Yet another interesting point would be the Conflict of Interest issues, for which, there were troubles in recent times.

“It is one thing to keep talking about conflict and another thing to act on it when anomalies are pointed out. Both Sourav and Rahul have wrongly suffered because of conflict allegations in the past. Rahul’s alleged conflict when he joined NCA was never a conflict,” a source said.

“Sourav has time and again pointed out how Clause 38 (conflict rules) in the constitution needs amendment. The truth is, when such serious instances are ignored (read: NCA), then things that are not important also get blown out of proportion,” source was as quoted by the Times of India.

Sourav Ganguly has invited Rahul Dravid to the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday. The two former India cricketers, who were captain and vice-captain for a long period, are all set to discuss the issues surrounding the National Cricket Academy at length.
