Sourav Ganguly Will Do Great As BCCI President - Kumar Sangakkara

Yet another former cricketer expressed his happiness for the appointment of Sourav Ganguly as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This time, it is Kumar Sangakkara, who applauded the latest move by the Indian board to elect Sourav Ganguly as their president.

Ganguly was formally designated as president of the BCCI at the Annual General Body Meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday. He is the 39th president of the nation’s cricket body. And also, he is the second captain of the national team to hold the post. The 47-year-old former skipper has a nine-month term after being elected unopposed.

Sourav Ganguly has a global view – Kumar Sangakkara

The newly-appointed president of the Marylebone Cricket Club, Kumar Sangakkara has said he is looking forward to Sourav Ganguly’s term as the boss of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sangakkara, the 1st non-British president of the MCC, said he is sure Ganguly will have a huge impact on world cricket during his stint as the president of the richest cricket body in the world.

”Dada [Ganguly] is in a much more influential position than I am. But I have really enjoyed my conversations with him. He has been part of the world cricket committee. He has a global view on world cricket, not just Indian cricket. That’s really important,” Sangakkara told ESPNCricinfo.

“He is a great supporter of cricket in the Olympics, he is a great supporter of spreading the game globally. So I am sure he will do a huge amount of work. He has got a very sharp and tactical brain. I mean his experience in playing the game and captaining India is immense. So I am sure he will do a wonderful job.

“His influence at the ICC, if he brings that in a positive and usual manner with which he looks at the game, I am sure there will be a huge impact.”
