South Africa vs Pakistan 2019: 3rd T20I - Visitors Get Consolation Win

Pakistan was finally able to get a compensation win in the final T20I against South Africa as they won by 27 runs. However, South Africa clinched the three-match T20I series by 2-1. Pakistan posted a competitive score of 168-9 in their allotted 20 overs after David Miller won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The visitors came with a collective batting performance as all the batters chipped in their contributions. Babar Azam who had scored a brilliant 90 in the second match gave a quick start as he careened to 23 off just 11 balls. Furthermore, Azam scored five fours in blistering knock.

Pakistan finally comes up with a complete performance.

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammed Rizwan and skipper Shoaib Malik added an alliance of 42 runs for the third wicket after Fakhar Zaman scored run-a-ball 17.

However, Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals to fall behind in the match. They were 146-9 in 18.3 overs but Pakistan was lifted to 168 runs after a blistering knock of 8-ball 22 from Shadab Khan. The right-hander added the finishing touches as he scored three sixes.

Beuran Hendricks was the pick of the Proteas bowler as the rookie pacer scalped four wickets and conceded 14 wickets in his four overs.

Shadab Khan comes with all-around performance.

On the other hand, the hosts could not get off to a good start as they kept losing wickets in a cluster. Reeza Hendricks was dismissed in the second over when Shaheen Afridi caught and bowled him. Furthermore, Janneman Malan soon followed his opening partner back into the pavilion as he was bowled by Imad Wasim.

However, Rassie van der Dussen scored 41 from 35 balls laced with two fours and as many sixes. The Proteas was tottering at 80-6 and had their backs against the wall. But Chris Morris who took two wickets gave a ray to hope to his team.

The right-hander scored a quickfire inning of 55 runs from 29 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. However, his pyrotechnics went in vain as South Africa fell short by 27 runs. Shadad Khan was awarded the man of the match for taking two wickets and scoring 22 runs. On the other hand, David Miller was awarded the Man of the series.
