It has been an excellent season for Lungi Ngidi since making his debut for South Africa. He performed exceptionally well for his country with impressive spells that landed him in the Indian Premier League as well. Now, with the 2019 World Cup around the corner, the pacer is eyeing to bag the tricks from his senior at work, Dale Steyn.
Recently, Ngidi bagged the man of the match for bowling his heart out against Zimbabwe in the 1st ODI. Speaking during the occasion, Lungi Ngidi showered words of praise on Dale Steyn for helping him in certain areas of his game.
Dale Steyn is very helpful – Lungi Ngidi
Speaking of the presence of Dale Steyn, the rookie pacer quoted Steyn in the team has been very helpful. Ngidi added he had learnt few tricks from the fast bowler in using the cross-seam deliveries.
Further, the flamboyant cricketer quoted he got suggestions from Dale Steyn regarding the use of slower deliveries. However, he concluded it is saying it helps the team with seniors around.
“Dale is very helpful,” Ngidi said.”He’s our most experienced bowler. And he also gave me a few tips when we were out there … so maybe try a few cross-seam balls, maybe the odd slower one,” Lungi Ngidi said.
“It really does help to have Dale in the system, and in the team. There are all sorts of ideas to bounce off him,” Lungi Nagidi furtherly added to his lines.
However, as Lungi Ngidi said, having a senior member in the team will help the youngsters to deliver the goods. With the 2019 World Cup being a pressure-filled tournament, the presence of Dale Steyn will make a massive difference.
Currently, South Africa is hosting Zimbabwe for a limited-over series. They both will be looking for three times in ODI and T20I matches respectively. South Africa already won the first ODI of the series.
