The ongoing proliferation of the World Health Organisation-declared pandemic that is the novel coronavirus has proceeded to put the entire world under a lockdown. More and more cases are being reported on a daily basis and the tally of the total infected cases has already crossed a million mark.

The world of sports has been grappled with the ongoing crisis. Almost every major event including La Liga, Premier League, Olympics, NBA, has been postponed for an indefinite period. As far as cricket is concerned, its marquee event- outside the International calendar- the Indian Premier League has also come under jeopardy.

But the likes of David Warner are still hoping for the tournament to start at some point in the near future and are ensuring they are well-and-truly in shape as far as fitness is concerned if the cash-rich league gets a go-ahead. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner is seemingly pushing the bar as far as fitness is concerned. The swashbuckling opener had recently shared an Instagram post where he could be seen rigorously working on his body.

His IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad shared the same via their official Twitter account which they captioned it as ‘Warner Workouts’

There is a lot of contention around the availability of foreign players if the IPL goes ahead but the former Australian vice-captain’s manager James Erskine had recently revealed that Warner could play if the 13th edition takes place.

If the IPL is on David Warner’s planning on going. If things change dramatically, which can happen in the space of an hour, the answer is you change your mind. It’s no different from everybody else.” Erksine was quoted as saying by The Age

Coming back to the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is constantly in touch with its English and Australian counterparts regarding the availability of their players if the tournament goes ahead at some point in the future.

The cash-rich league, which was initially slated to start from March 29th with defending champions Mumbai Indians locking horns with past years runners-up Chennai Super Kings, was postponed till April 15 in the wake of COVID-19.

But with the situation not really improving, it looks unlikely that the tournament will go ahead post-April 15. The BCCI is currently looking at an alternative window and mulling several other options to stage the 13th edition.
