It seems like England has already started their search for the transition of life after James Anderson and Stuart Broad. With both stalwart players nearing the retirement phase, the selectors are in the interest of giving call-ups for Jamie Overton and Olly Stone. The duo has got the remarkable numbers under their belt and also bowls at a great pace. England management, who wants to get the better of Sri Lanka’s weakness in playing fast bowler, is in thoughts of bringing Overton and Olly Stone.

Meanwhile, the buzz from the England camp is that they are considering leaving James Anderson and Stuart Broad out of the squad that will tour Sri Lanka for Test matches.

However, it is only consideration, and the decision is yet to be taken. It is also understood that Stuart Broad was carrying the injury when he got hurt in the rib cage in the recently-concluded Test match against India.

With the spin being the main weapon in Sri Lanka, it is expected that Jack Leach would get the call-up as well. Most probably, he will join the likes of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, who cemented their places in the side.

All in all, a series of call-ups are on the cards for the tour to Sri Lanka. Mostly, the respective board would like to give the rest to James Anderson and Stuart Broad, especially, with the Ashes series in 2019.

The lack of pace has been the worrying sign for England when the conditions aren’t in favour of swing bowling. The duo, James Overton and Olly Stone can deliver the goods over 90 KMPH, which might do the trick for the team.

The official announcement of the Test squad is expected to be made at the end of the next week. The first Test begins in Galle on November 6 followed by matches in Pallekele and Colombo.
