Ending all the speculations surrounding his participation in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, India captain Virat Kohli, on Friday (August 11), made it clear that he is likely to play the five-match series.

With Kohli consistently being in action for quite some time and a busy home season ahead, there were speculations that the captain would be rested for the five-match ODI series against the Sri Lankan team which is struggling to put up a challenge against the Indian team. However, Kohli has quashed all the speculations and reacted dramatically when asked whether he would skip the limited-overs series.

“Who said I am not playing? I don’t know where this came from, but I have no problems in playing,” Kohli’s said while replying to a query on Friday (August 11) ahead of the third Test against Sri Lanka.

“We (team management and selectors) are going to sit down on selection soon and we certainly have plans in mind and combinations that we want to speak about. So as captain, I am definitely in the thick of things and knowing what to speak to the committee about,” he concluded.

The team for the ODI series will be announced on Sunday (August 13). The series will start from August 20 while the tour will end with the one-off T20, scheduled to be played on September 6.

Meanwhile, the full-fledged series in Sri Lanka will be followed by a busy home schedule once again. The upcoming season at home will have 3 Tests, 13 ODIs and 11 T20s—between September and December before the team leaves for South Africa in January.

India, meanwhile, will look to continue the winning streak in Tests and beat Sri Lanka in the last Test to inflict a whitewash. Virat Kohli & Co. have already sealed the series by winning the first two Tests of the series.
