Virat Kohli shattered some major batting records on Friday as India beat South Africa by eight wickets in Centurion. India also clinched the series 5-1 and dominated the hosts throughout the One-day International series.

Talking about Kohli’s personal achievements, the Indian skipper scored yet another hundred. He guided India to a famous win at SuperSport Park on February 16.

Kohli scored 129 off 96 deliveries and completed his 35th ODI century in the sixth ODI which was also his third centuries in the six-match ODI series. He also amassed 558 runs in the six matches which is the highest ever scored by a batsman in a bilateral series.

The right-handed batsman also became the fastest to reach 17,000 runs in international cricket in just 208 matches as he surpassed Proteas batting star Hashim Amla.

Kohli is now only behind Sachin Tendulkar (49) in the list of highest century-makers in ODI cricket. Out of Kohli’s 35 ODI centuries, 30 have come in a winning cause.

The Indian captain now has 56 centuries, (21 in Tests and 35 in ODIs) in international cricket, which has taken him to the fifth spot of the elite list. He is behind Tendulkar (100), Rickey Ponting (71), Kumar Sangakkara (63) and Jacques Kallis (62).

Virat averages 6.48 innings per hundred, ahead of the likes Amla (7.35), Steve Smith (7.42) and Tendulkar (7.82).

Kohli has surpassed Tendulkar in another record this time for the most number of hundreds scored before his 30th birthday.

Tendulkar had 34 to his name while Kohli scored his 35th ODI hundred on Friday. Chris Gayle lags way behind at third with 19, followed by Sourav Ganguly (18) and AB de Villiers (16).

In an astonishing fact, Kohli even has more hundreds as captain (13 in 49 matches) than all of Pakistan captains combined (12 in 889 matches).

Kohli is the fifth highest run scorer in the ODI format with 9,588 runs in 208 matches behind Tendulkar (18426), Sourav Ganguly(11221), Rahul Dravid (10768) and MS Dhoni (9793).

Virat Kohli also equaled the record of Kevin Pietersen for most number of hundreds against South Africa in South Africa in ODI’s, with three hundreds.

The Indian skipper has scored 844 runs on this current tour of the Rainbow nation. The next best on this tour was Shikhar Dhawan with 355 runs followed by Rohit Sharma with 248 runs and Ajinkya Rahane 182 runs.

He has also reached 9,500 runs in ODIs in the least number of innings. He overtook AB de Villiers, who did it in 215 innings.
