Stats: Top Ten Lowest Total By India In ODIs

High-flying India came crashing down in the ongoing fourth One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in Hamilton. The Men in Blue had entered the game high on confidence after winning the first three games handsomely. However, the Black Caps bounced back in style to give India a timely reality check. India’s decision to test their bench strength in the absence of stalwarts – Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni – completely backfired as New Zealand bowled them out for just 92.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson’s decision to bowl first was totally justified by his teammates. Pace spearhead Trent Boult starred with the ball, running through India’s top-order to put the Kiwis on top. He picked up 5 for 21 off his 21 overs. That Yuzvendra Chahal’s 18 is the highest individual total of the innings makes thing very clear. Asked to bat first, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started cautiously.
However, once Boult dismissed Dhawan to end the 21-run stand, the floodgates opened. India kept on losing wickets at regular intervals before being bowled out for 92. At one stage, it looked like they would not even touch 50 after being reduced to 40 for 7. However, some handy knocks from the lower-order batsmen helped them get close to 92.
The score, meanwhile, is India’s seventh lowest in ODIs and second lowest against New Zealand after 88. This was also the seventh time India were all out for less than 100 in ODIs. So, here is the list showing India’s top ten lowest totals in the 50-over format.
