Pace sensation Jofra Archer starred as England managed to end the Ashes 2019 in a draw beating Australia by 135 runs in the final Test. The world cricket saw two best athletes – Archer and Steve Smith go up against each other in the series. The Aussie cricketer praised Archer calling him a bright talent after the end of the series.

Smith has been unstoppable in this series. He finished with 774 runs from seven innings including three centuries and three fifties. He broke his record of the highest runs in one series in this century. Previously, Steve Smith scaled the record when he scored 739 runs against India.

The former Australia skipper came all guns blazing after one year exile due to ball-tampering. Cricket Australia banned Smith along with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft for their role in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in 2018.

Only Jofra Archer has managed to offer a challenge to Steve Smith. In the second match, the young fast bowler had the swashbuckling batsman in dilemma with his bouncer. Archer also stuck Smith twice with bouncers. The second one forced Smith to retire hurt and missed the third Test due to concussion.

Steve Smith while receiving the man of the series award, hailed Jofra Archer. Smith and Archer were teammates in the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and the former said that the latter has a bright future.

“I saw Jofra last year at the IPL and realized he is a very special talent. He has got a very bright future,” Smith said after the match.

Jofra Archer has impressed in his debut Test series claiming 22 wickets including two fifers in the four Tests he has played. He will be a force to reckon with for England in the coming days.
