Steve Smith, the No.1 ranked Test batsman in the world and former Australian captain, has picked Test triumphs in England and India as the “two big mountains’ that he wants to climb before the end of his Test career.

Winning Test series in England and India are two of the biggest challenges for any Australian team. The former world champions last won in both these countries back in 2001 and 2004 respectively.

Since then, the closest that Australia has come to scripting triumph in England and India was during their previous tours in 2019 and 2017 respectively. While they drew in England 2-2 to retain the Ashes, they ran Virat Kohli’s men close in 2017.

Smith, of course, was the architect in chief in both those series. While he scored 774 runs in 4 Tests at an average of 110 in the Ashes, the former captain scored three high-quality tons in India in 2017.

“They’re the two big mountains to climb and if you can do that, it would be pretty special. hopefully i get another crack at it, we’ll see how we go,” Steve Smith was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
