Shikhar Dhawan checked the right boxes on the first day of the historic Test match against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

However, Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t happy with the careless shot of Dhawan after the lunch session. The Little Master believed Dhawan had a golden opportunity to score big in the one-off Test.

In fact, Gavaskar believes Shikhar Dhawan should have scored a double ton against Afghanistan. Thus, Gavaskar is of the opinion that one should score daddy hundreds after getting off to a start.

The batsman should put a price on his wicket especially in the Test form of the game.

Shikhar Dhawan was on fire in the first session.

Furthermore, Gavaskar added Dhawan often gets dropped from the Test playing XI. Thus, he had a fine opportunity to cement his place after scoring a big hundred for the number one side in the Test arena.

Therefore, Gavaskar said Dhawan should have taken more time after the lunch session. However, it should also be noted that Dhawan scored his runs with the same aggressive approach in the first session.

However, Shikhar Dhawan wrote his name in the history books after a blistering century in the first session of the historic Test match against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

The southpaw batsman became the sixth player in the cricketing folklore to score a century before the lunch session on Day one of a Test match.

In fact, Dhawan became the first Indian batsman to achieve this feat. Furthermore, the Indian opener joined the elite list which also has Sir Don Bradman. Dhawan scored 19 boundaries and three maximums in his blistering knock.
