With the advent of T20 cricket in the last decade or so we have seen the game of cricket going to a whole new level. Batsmen have become more fearless than ever which is effectively helping the longest format of the game moving briskly. From Virat Kohli to AB de Villiers, from Steve Smith to Rohit Sharma, the fans are crazy over them. In the current Indian team, Dhoni, Virat and Rohit Sharma have earned immense accolades and have a huge fan base all over the world.

However despite their exploits on a cricketing field, Telegu actress Poonam Kaur who was present at Vishakapatnam to watch the deciding ODI between India and Sri Lanka walked all the way to the commentary box to meet her idol Sunil Gavaskar and even took a photo with the “Little Master.”

There is no doubt about the fact that Gavaskar remains one of the greatest ever batsmen in the world to have graced the game. He had several records up his sleeve and was the first batsman in the history of Test cricket to reach 10,000 test runs. He also held the record for 34 Test centuries which was intact for almost a couple of decades before the record was overtaken by another Little Master Sachin Tendulkar at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi in 2005.

Speaking to the reporters on her idol, Poonam said:

“I have the utmost respect for him. He is very a humble person.” When asked if she is also a fan of the current Indian superstars she said, “Who isn’t? Of course, I look up to them, but he (Gavaskar) is at the top of my list.”

Gavaskar made his Test debut against a strong Windies side and went on to create history by smashing 774 runs in the four-match series. It was the record for most runs in a series for a debutant which is still intact 46 years since.
