Out-of-favour India batsman Suresh Raina survived a scary situation on Tuesday (September 12) as he escaped unhurt after one of the tyres of the Range Rover he was travelling in randomly burst.

According to police reports, the mishap occurred near Etawah early morning when one of the rear tyres of the Range Rover burst near Friend’s colony. The Police also claimed that the consequences would have been very worse if the car had been travelling at high speed. Raina was going to Kanpur from Ghaziabad to participate in Duleep Trophy. The 30-year old will lead India Blue team in its tournament-opener against India Red on Wednesday (September 13). The police also confirmed that Raina did not suffer any injury.

With no spare tyre in his car, Raina was then taken to his destination on the car arranged by the police.

Meanwhile,  the southpaw is currently looking to win back his place in the Indian team. Raina last played an One-Day International way back in October 2015 against South Africa and is yet to get a recall. He was recalled in the team for the New Zealand series last year but missed it due to illness. Earlier this year, he was in the team for the T20I squad against England but he has not got the call for the ODI team yet.

While his chances of returning to the team are looking bleak at the moment, h recently said that he was patiently waiting for his chance and is currently focused on doing hard work.

“I just want to tell people that I am working hard and I am not the thanda type. I always believed in hard work. 60% is your hard work and 40% is your luck. Look at Yuvraj, he did the same, he worked very hard and came back. Sachin Tendulkar told me very nice thing other day, sab achha hai, you don’t need to prove anyone. You have done so much, you just need enjoy your cricket. I always made with high intensity. I know my chance will come,” he was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
