Suresh Raina‘s recent struggles is well known to everyone and perhaps that is the reason behind Virender Sehwag advising him to keep working hard even on his birthday when the left-handed batsman wished him on Twitter,

A key member of the limited-overs team not very long ago, Raina  has not played in One-Day Internationals since October 2015 and has fallen out of favour with the national selectors.

He was recalled for the ODI series against New Zealand last year but did not play a single game due to illness. However, a recall for the T20 series against England earlier this year gave him a glimmer of hope and he fully capitalized on it by finishing the three-match series as its third highest run-scorer with 104 runs. A few months later, he proved his worth with yet another impressive IPL season, scoring 442 runs in 14 matches which led to his inclusion in the standby list for the Champions Trophy.

However, he was ignored for the Sri Lanka series with the reports suggesting that he along with veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh failed the fitness test which has now been made mandatory before getting into the national team. But not paying heed to the setbacks, Raina has been working hard on his fitness and consistently posts his workout videos on Twitter.

And it seems Sehwag is also keenly following Raina’s career at the moment and that is why he asked his former teammate to work hard when the latter wished him on his birthday on Friday (October 20).

“Happy b’day to some1 whose name is synonymous with d word destruction. Always a nightmare for d bowlers Wish u d best @virendersehwag paaji,” Raina wrote.

In reply, Sehwag, who too had suffered a similar fate once during his illustrious career, said: “Thank you Suresh. Lage raho , waqt zaroor aayega !.”
