Sachin Baby has been successful in his domestic career. He has scored runs for Kerala consistently and continues to lead the side. Sachin Baby also got his chances to represent various IPL franchises. He, however, could make the most of it with once RCB coming close to clinch the title.

Baby has been an integral part of the Kerala team since 2009. Though Kerala came close to clinching a Ranji trophy in 2018-18 under his captaincy, he still dreams of winning the Irani Cup with the side. The 31-year-old might have took 25 first-class matches to score his first century but he lived up to his parents dream who accidentally named him after the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Suresh Raina has been my cricketing idol: Sachin Baby

Sachin Baby said that he always looked up to senior India batsman Suresh Raina. It was more so due to the fielding abilities that Raina has. Narrating a story, Baby also said that once he tried to impress Raina during a domestic match.

“Yes, Suresh Raina. I always copied his stance. He is a great fielder, even I also copy his fielding, how he stands on the field, slips. His body movement, everything,” Kerala captain Sachin Baby told CricketAddictor in an exclusive interview.

“When we were playing Kerala vs Uttar Pradesh, I wanted to impress him,” he added.

Baby was a natural athlete since childhood. He participated in 100metre dash, long jump and football was always there in his book. However, his journey as a cricketer started after his physical education teacher told him to try out in a selection camp, where he was selected as an U-17 captain setting on a new journey.

Baby has now scored 3251 runs for Kerala at an average of 31.25.
