Suresh Raina Thrilled By Prithvi Shaw's Rocking Test Debut

India batting star Suresh Raina lauded Prithvi Shaw after the latter began his Test career with a century against West Indies.

That Prithvi Shaw is destined for great things in the coming years is well documented. And the youngster’s start to his international career has further strengthened those speculation. Shaw justified the huge hype surrounding him by scoring a sizzling century on his debut in the first Test against West Indies.

He scored 134 before falling to Devendra Bishoo. It took Shaw only 99 deliveries to reach his maiden Test ton.

In doing so, Shaw became 15th Indian batsman to score a hundred on debut, and the latest after fellow Mumbaikar Rohit Sharma.

Overall he is the 105th player to achieve the feat in Test cricket. The opener also became the fourth youngest player of all time to hit a debut ton and the second youngest Indian to make a Test century after Sachin Tendulkar.

Not surprisingly, he is attracting widespread praise for his stunning debut. And Suresh Raina also took to Twitter to congratulate the youngster, writing:

“What a thrilling test debut! Rocking inning @PrithviShaw! Heartiest congratulations!!! “

India, meanwhile, finished the day on a commanding 364 for 4.

The hosts were off to a poor start as KL Rahul fell for a duck. However, Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara (86) added 206 for the second wicket to bat India to a position of strength.

Debutant Sherman Lewis broke the stand when he had Pujara caught behind for his maiden Test wicket. Shaw soon joined Pujara in the hut after being caught and bowled by Devendra Bishoo.

India captain Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane then shared a century stand until the latter was caught behind off Roston Chase for 41.

Kohli batted through to the close to finish on 72. Rishabh Pant was giving him company on 17.
