Homeside, Delhi, defeated Jammu and Kashmir in a one-sided affair at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

After opting to bowl first, Delhi had a dream start, as both the opening bowlers viz Pradeep Sangwan and Navdeep Saini bowled a maiden wicket over. J & K scored their first run on the 17th delivery of the game.

The plight of the visitors continued, and they lost the wicket of Ian Dev Chauhan too. It was Parvez Rasool who top scored and played 37 runs for his side, to help Jammu and Kashmir post 100 runs on the board.

For Delhi, Pawan Negi shone with the ball, as he took three wickets for 27 runs. Apart from him, Sangwan and Saini too scalped two wickets each for just 16 and 14 runs, respectively.

In the chase to this total, Delhi, surprisingly, didn’t send Gautam Gambhir and it was Sarthak Ranjan who opened the innings along with Rishabh Pant. It was Pant who first started to open up and warmed up with a couple of boundaries. Ranjan too began his innings with a boundary and followed up with another boundary soon.

Both the youngsters were toying away with J & K bowlers and were collecting runs easily. Pant soon reached his first half-century of the tournament and was dismissed on 51, after sharing 77 runs with his partner.

Ranjan too followed him soon after scoring a well made 31 off just 20 deliveries. His innings included two sixes and three well-struck fours. Himmat Singh and Lalit Yadav completed the formalities and got Delhi past Jammu and Kashmir’s total of 100.

With this win, Delhi bolstered its chances of qualifying for the next stage as now, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi have two wins in their account.
