The upcoming edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will run from November 8 to December 1 across the country. This year the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to host the premier T20 event before the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions. Notably, the IPL auction is on December 19 in Kolkata.

The 11th edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will give the players an exciting opportunity to bag a good deal at the IPL auctions. All the eight franchises will have a keen look to at the domestic T20 competition before the auction day.

All the teams are divided into five groups who will play each other in a round-robin format. The top two sides from each group will progress through to the Super League stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The semifinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Trophy 2019-20 will see the top four teams from the Super League playing against each other.

The final of the competition is December 1. Karnataka are the defending champions, who will look to defend their title after a good run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
