Syed Mushtaq Ali Video: Vinay Kumar Did a Jonty Rhodes Against Punjab

Karnataka captain Vinay Kumar did a Jonty Rhodes in the ongoing T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Punjab. Karnataka and Punjab faced each other which ended in Punjab winning in a super over. Punjab became the second team from North Zone while Karnataka topped from South Zone. 

The Matter-:

Punjab piped Karnataka in a thrilling contest of the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy as both the sides were tied at 159 and Punjab edging past in the super over with Mandeep Singh scoring 10 runs of the first four balls and ending with 15 runs in the over. Karnataka could only manage 11 runs as Siddharth Kaul kept his cool for the Punjab side. Punjab Karnataka batted first and posted a competitive total of 159 in the first innings which star-studded Punjab equalled courtesy a perfect team performance.

The Incident-:

Vinay Kumar affected a brilliant run out which reminded the cricket fans of Jonty Rhodes to run-out in 1992 World Cup to remove Inzamam Ul Haq. Vinay ran towards the non-striker’s end from the mid-off region and threw himself towards the stumps with the ball in hand and dismissed Gurkeerat Singh. Vinay Kumar himself was so impressed by his attempt that he posted a video of the run-out on his Twitter account and captioned it,

“Hi coach @JontyRhodes8 after watching your 1992 World Cup runout video many times, I was waiting for such opportunity. So, today I finally got it. How’s that coach.”

To which Rhodes replied:

“Vinay I did not think u were old enough to be watching me at ‘92 World Cup!!”
