Team India On Target List; NIA Receives Anonymous Warning Letter

The series between India and Bangladesh has already got many disturbances attached to it. From Bangladesh players’ strike to the change in administration in India followed by the visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister to India and talks of day/night Test – there is a lot of stuff going in at the moment. However, the latest headlines isn’t that pleasing, as the Indian National Cricket Team in on the Target list of Terrorists.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) received a warning letter from the anonymous. The letter revealed that there is a possible threat to the Rohit Sharma-led side in the National Capital Delhi. Immediately, the letter received by NIA has been forwarded by the security agency to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Regarding the same, the Delhi Police has been asked to step-up security after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) received a letter claiming the Indian cricket team is under threat ahead of the 1st T20I against Bangladesh. Perhaps, this would be a tricky call but the board or the security officials aren’t taking things lightly.

The unidentified letter tells ”All India Lashkar” based out of ”Kozikhode” might target Indian captain Virat Kohli and prominent politicians, who will be present at the Arun Jaitely Stadium for the first T20I. However, the regular skipper Virat Kohli will stay away from the series.

Following the threating calls, the Delhi Police has arranged perfect plans for the individual players’ safety and, had a thorough check in the stadium with abundant security staff maintained all the time.

Coming to the series, after dismantling South Africa, India will host Bangladesh in a 3-match T20I series and a 2-match Test series in November. Bangladesh have never beaten India in both these formats of the game which means the hosts will start as firm favourites.

So far, India and Bangladesh have faced each other in just eight T20Is, with the Men in Blue emerging victorious on every single occasion. In the Test format, the two sides have locked horns nine times, with India winning seven of those games and two ending in draws.
