The Contribution Of MS Dhoni To This Team Is Way Beyond His Numbers - Ajay Jadeja

Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja feels that the contribution of veteran MS Dhoni to this team is way beyond his numbers can ever show.

India recently won the five-match ODI series against Windies where MS Dhoni has been the part of every ODI games. He couldn’t put up a good show with his bat scoring 50 runs from three innings. However, he has impressed the crowd with his wicket-keeping skills, taking four catches and two brilliant stumpings.

Meanwhile, Ajay Jadeja feels said that if he had been in the selection committee, he would have picked up MS Dhoni for T20Is against Australia. Recently he is out of form and couldn’t provide runs as and when required.

“If I had to pick someone, I would have picked MS Dhoni. His numbers will tell you the story, he must have not the same numbers after 2016. Half those runs were scored in normal days and half of them in troubled times. I think he is the greatest one-day cricketer at least in mine lifetime. In the recent series, we have discussed what we have gained and what we have lost. We have lost Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a player in Twenty 20 cricket.” Ajay Jadeja said.

Moreover, the 47 years old also backed the selectors and the committee by saying they put on their best effort to pick up players for making a squad. Ajay Jadeja feels that the selectors didn’t consider anything beyond numbers and thus MS Dhoni has not been selected in the T20I team. He laudsDhoni by saying his contribution to the field is also an essential aspect for the Indian team.

“Each selector, everybody puts on their heart, tries to do the best, whatever they can. If you ask me a question, I look at the way I see. These selectors probably didn’t see anything beyond the numbers. The contribution of this man on that side is not just the numbers he is providing to you.” Jadeja added.

Furthermore, Ajay Jadeja reckons that cricketers need to play lots of cricket to regain their form. He also said that domestic cricket is not a platform to regain the form. MS Dhoni should play more international cricket to boost up his energy ahead of next years Word Cup.

“I believe that he needs more cricket. Because of the form of a batsman or a bowler can not come if you are not playing games. Domestic cricket is not somewhere that I would expect MS Dhoni to go back and finds his form. It has to be at the international level because, for years, the technique has been the same, he changed a little bit, which happens to every player.” Ajay Jadeja concluded.

India will tour to Australia for three T20Is, four Tests and three ODIs. Dhoni’s name was not included in the T20 squad and will miss the three match.
