The brainchild of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), The Hundred finally got underway after it was launched on October 3 (Thursday). The tournament is the latest innovation brought by ECB which will start in July next year.

Meanwhile, the eight new city-based teams will play in The Hundred over five weeks in the summer of 2020. The white-ball competition will be 100 balls per innings, with a change of ends after ten deliveries. In addition to, a bowler can bowl five or ten deliveries at a stretch with a maximum of 20 balls per game.

A 25-ball powerplay start for each team.while two fielders can field outside of the initial 30-yard circle during the powerplay. Teams will also be able to call timeouts as seen in the Indian Premier League 2019.

The teams already look fascinating after marquee players of each franchise were announced. Many top cricketers including the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith, and Chris Gayle have signed up for the drafts. Meanwhile, no Indian men’s cricketers will seen in the competition as BCCI doesn’t allow their players to play in other countries.
