MSK Prasad, the chief selector of the Indian National Cricket Team recently revealed that the current trio of pacers comprising Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishant Sharma, who featured in the Test series against Australia as the best in the history of cricket.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli & Co registered their first-ever series win on Australian soil as they beat the Aussies 2-1 in the four-match Test series. The bowlers did an exceptional job in Australia with Jasprit Bumrah returning with 21 wickets – the highest wicket-taker alongside Nathan Lyon. Moreover, Mohammed Shami bagged 17 wickets on tour posing challenges to the Australian batters. Furthermore, they also recently went past the record of most wickets in a season held by Windies greats Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, and Goel Garner.

MSK Prasad hailed the Indian pacers labelling them as the best in the business. He admitted that the fast bowlers have done exceedingly well and cashed in on their chances. Prasad also heaped praise on Bharat Arun – India’s bowling coach for putting in the hard work.

The trio of (Mohammed) Shami, (Jasprit) Bumrah and Ishant (Sharma) is the best in the history of the game itself. They have surpassed the record held by the West Indian greats Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding and Joel Garner. Bhuvi and Umesh also bowled extremely well when they were given opportunities.

Right through last year, our fast bowlers bowled outstandingly. After a long time, we have five fast bowlers who are equally competent to bowl well on any surface in the world. Bharath Arun, our bowling coach, has worked really hard and is the reason behind the success of this pace battery,” Prasad said to Sportstar.

The fielding has been terrific

In addition to, MSK Prasad lauded India’s fielding and catching efforts saying that they have been the best in the business. The former Indian cricketer also stated that the due credit should go to India’s fielding coach – R Sridhar, currently regarded as one of the best.

We have taken more catches and effected more number of run-outs than any other Test playing nation in the last calendar year. Due credit should go to our fielding coach R. Sridhar, who is one of the best in the business in the world,” Prasad concluded.

In conclusion, MSK Prasad said that batting also produced an improved effort in comparison to England and South Africa.
