Three Players who Can Replace Washington Sundar if He is Ruled Out

India off-spinning all-rounder Washington Sundar suffered an injury during a practice session ahead of the two matches T20I series against Ireland at Malahide. He fell awkwardly on his right ankle which might force him to miss the UK tour. However, nothing has been confirmed yet by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The extent of the injury is still unknown.

Washington limped off the field in dismay. If he is ruled out the BCCI in all likelihood will name a replacement for him. Although he might have sat out for the whole tour. But his injury might be a blessing for some other players who are trying to break into the Indian team. He was quite brilliant in the Nidahas Trophy and bagged the Man of the Match there

Deepak Chahar

The right arm medium pacer has been quite a sensation for the Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded Indian Premier League. He bowled in the perfect areas and made the ball do the talking. He troubled world class batsman like Kane Williamson on a consistent basis.

Deepak began with the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in the Qualifier 1 to get Chennai off to a dream start. He has also performed quite admirably for India A in the limited opportunities he has gone so far. Hence if Washington is ruled out there is the possibility of Chahar being called up by the selectors.

Krunal Pandya

The elder of the Pandya brother is knocking on the doors of the senior team. He has been exceptional for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League over the past 3 years. Along with his younger brother, Krunal has gone on to scale great heights for Mumbai.

It was his sensational innings in the final of the 2017 IPL which helped Mumbai lift the trophy from the jaws of defeat. He has been a wonderful bowler as well. Krunal has made AB de Villiers hs bunny and has dismissed him on all the 4 occasions he has bowled to him so far.

Vijay Shankar

The all-rounder was in good touch for the Delhi Daredevils in the recently concluded IPL. He chipped in with some useful runs in the lower middle order. He stated that the words of Ricky Ponting were of immense help as he managed to restore back his form in the middle of the tournament.

Shankar played a horrendous inning in the final of the Nidahas Trophy which almost lost India the game before the Dinesh Karthik heroic sealed a nail-biting clash for India. He is a useful medium pacer as well and cap chip with some crucial overs in the middle.
