Tim Paine Shrugs of a Painful Blow on Face, Takes a Stunning Catch in the Same Over

Australian skipper Tim Paine bravely shrugged off a blow on the face and then pulled off a remarkable catch during the great period of play during the 2nd ODI against England. The wicket-keeper was struck by a delivery from Andrew Tye. The ball bounced quite awkwardly and smashed on his face.

He was bleeding profusely at the outfield of the Sophia Gardens during the match against England in Cardiff. It was a slower delivery which went down the leg side and jumped awkwardly to hit Paine on the flush of the face. It was an indeed a painful blow for Paine but he got up pretty quickly. He moved towards the left of the delivery when it hit him badly.

The physio came running out and pulled out a tooth which was hit by the ball. It was horrendous on the field but Paine showed that he is a sport and never left the field. He went on to take a brilliant catch in the same over of an inside edge from the blade of Jason Roy. Paine was at his agile best and reacted instantly. He changed direction and went on to hold the catch on his left glove.

Riding on a superb century from the blade of Jason Roy, England posted a commanding score of 342 on the board in their allotted 50 overs. He played quite superbly and smashed some terrific shots in the process. He wasn’t in the greatest of form coming into the match. However, after this clash, he will be a happy man and can now look to consolidate on this innings.

Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler also scored a stunning 91 of 70 deliveries which included 8 fours and a couple of sixes. It was a superb knock from the swashbuckling batsman. Chasing the total Australia have already lost 4 wickets for 132 runs.
