Former New Zealand great Richard Hadlee in his latest interview said that Tim Southee is Virat Kohli’s nemesis. The Kiwis pacer got the better of Kohli on many occasion, recently he became the bowler to dismiss the Indian skipper most number of times across formats.

Kohli’s misfortunes against Southee continued in the New Zealand tour as well, where barring a score of 50, the 31-year-old struggled immensely.

Talking about just the Test match series between India and New Zealand, the Indian skipper who is ranked at the number two in Test rankings had an average of 9.5, his worst ever in red-ball cricket.

While Kohli fell to the feet of various Kiwis bowlers across the matches in India’s tour of New Zealand, Southee has seen the back of India’s captain a record number of times, prompting Hadlee to believe that the Kiwis pacer has indeed become Kohli’s kryptonite.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sportstar, the former New Zealand legend revealed how Southee has been troubling the Indian batsman.

“Southee is Kohli’s weakness, he’s got him out many times with swing. Against Southee, he is planting his front foot forward, not fully so, and if the ball does something, he’s in trouble. If the ball moves away, he gets caught behind, if it nips back he is leg-before,” Hadlee was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Virat Kohli had forgettable New Zealand tour:

Over the course of this whole tour, the Indian skipper could manage just 218 runs, which is even 36 runs fewer than his previous lowest tally that came against England in 2014. Kohli struggled back then as well, but the current tour has been a different sort of setback all together.
