India and Pakistan are set to lock horns on June 16 at Manchester. However, the recent attacks on CRPF jawans have put the match in jeopardy. On the other hand, former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels India should play and beat Pakistan in the big-ticket tournament.

“Who wins if India decides against playing Pakistan in the World Cup? And I am not even talking about the semis and the finals. Who wins? Pakistan wins because they get two points,” Gavaskar had said.

“India has so far beaten Pakistan every time in a World Cup, so we are actually conceding two points when by beating Pakistan, we could make sure that they don’t advance in the competition,” he had said.

Meanwhile, BCCI will meet the ICC officials in a meeting in Dubai, which is set to take place on 27th February. The future of India-Pakistan encounter in the World Cup will be decided in the rendezvous.
