To Get Recognised From Sachin Tendulkar Is A Massive Honour, Says Nathan Lyon

Nathan Lyon rattled the Indian National Cricket Team’s tails on Sunday, and in doing so claimed his 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Following his superb outing at Perth, the off-spinner got appreciation from Indian great Sachin Tendulkar. However, he admitted that getting recognised from such a great player is a massive honour.

Tendulkar shower praises to Lyon

The 31-year-old now has 331 Test wickets and also equaled Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan’s record against India after claiming figures of 5/61 in his 34.5 overs. In addition to, Muralitharan and Lyon have seven five-wicket hauls against India in red-ball format.

Tendulkar applauded Nathan Lyon for his excellent spell. The former cricketer also said that Australia had got a very special spinner with lots of variations, pace, and bounce.

“Australia have got a very special spinner in @NathLyon421. He has got terrific variations and uses the pace and bounce from the pitch to extract maximum value. #INDvAUS” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted on Sunday.

Moreover, Nathan Lyon was mesmerized after getting such an appreciation from Tendulkar. He also credited Tendulkar by saying one of the greatest players of all time.

“That’s amazing to get something like that from Sachin Tendulkar,” Lyon was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au after the day’s play. “He’s obviously one of the greatest of all time to ever play the game. So, to get recognised from him it’s a massive honour.” he added.

Furthermore, Nathan Lyon still has a lot of cricket left with him. The off-spinner feels that he needs to play much more to achieve many milestones. He also added that he had to improve himself a lot and for that, he will work hard to do something better.

“To pass the great ‘White Lightning’ it’s pretty special. Those types of milestones for me personally haven’t really sunk in. I don’t think I’m at the top of my game yet,” Lyon said.

“I think I’ve still got a lot of improvement, a lot of learning about the game and about off-spin bowling. And I believe there’s a lot around the corner for me if I keep working hard and keep wanting to get better.” he concluded.
