Anushka Sharma, Bollywood actress and wife of India skipper Virat Kohli, has constantly been targeted by fans and others because of her relation with the cricketer. Even before the two were married, the actress was blamed whenever Kohli failed to perform. Who can forget the abuse she received on social media after Kohli failed to deliver in the semifinal of the 2015 World Cup.

In fact, both Kohli and Anushka had briefly decided to take a break from their relationship after that period. But those abuses never affected their relationship as they finally tied the knot in 2017. However, it did not stop some from continuously targeting the Bollywood diva. Anushka Sharma faced the heat almost every time she was spotted in the stands.

Last year, the fans slammed her after she accompanied the cricketers to the Indian High Commission in London. But despite facing so much criticism, Anushka Sharma never hit back at her critics. But on Thursday, the 31-year old finally responded to the trolls and sick abuses she has been facing from the last few years.

Anushka Sharma took to Twitter to post a strongly-worded letter in which she spoke about her situation just because she ‘happens to be the wife of a cricketer’.

“I have always been of the opinion that maintaining silence on false and fabricated news and stories against one is the best way to deal with your detractors. This is how I handled my career for 11 years now. I always saw dignity and truth embedded in the shadow of my silence,” wrote Anushka Sharma.

She further mentioned about the instances when she was wrongly targeted and insisted that her silence made the lies look like truth. She alleged that her name was being used in fabricated stories as she concluded by writing:

“Today, I have decided to speak up because someone’s silence cannot be taken as their weakness. I am not and will not be a pawn to be used by anyone’s thoughts or beliefs or agendas and next time you want to use my name to discredit someone or the board or even my husband, do it with facts and proofs and leave me OUT of it. I have led my life, built my own career with utmost dignity and I am not going to compromise that for anything.”

“Maybe, it’s hard for some to believe that because I am self-made, independent woman who only happens to be the wife of a cricketer….and for the record, I drink coffee,” she added.
