The top Indian players are yet to receive their revised salary. Virat Kohli-led team contracts were recently renewed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the month of March. However, the richest board is yet to pay the revised salary to their superstar players.

Therefore, a final decision on the matter will be taken at the upcoming Special General Meeting of the BCCI. The meeting will be held today (Friday) in Delhi. Meanwhile, Indian top rated players had received a new contract on March 7.

Surprisingly, Indian players are yet to be paid.

The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar were put under a new category of A+ contract. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni who plays only two formats is under the A category of contracts.

However, a BCCI official revealed the reason for the delay of the payment. “The players are undoubtedly the priority of the board. But, you have to realize that there are certain protocols that need to be address and decisions need ratifications and that is why this delay,” he told CricketNext.

Meanwhile, BCCI had come up with a new contract category of A+. Five players who had fallen into this category will receive a total of INR 7 crores annually. Currently, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Shikhar Dhawan are part of the topmost category.

On the other hand, the other categories are A, B, and C. The players will receive a total amount of INR 5 crores, INR 3 crores, and INR 1 crore respectively.

Thus, the Indian board will like to sort out the payment issue before the Indian team tour to the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, other matters such as the sponsorship and commercial rights of the BCCI will be put on the table. Furthermore, other issues like cricket operations in the Domestic circuit will also be addressed by the board in the meeting.
