New Zealand have suffered a massive blow in the ongoing Test series against Australia as they will miss star fast bowler Trent Boult for the remainder of the series. It will be a huge dump for the visitors who are already 0-1 down the in the three-match Test series as a part of the World Test Championship.

Boult, who has been pivotal for New Zealand’s success across formats over the years, suffered a fracture to the second metacarpal of his right hand. The incident took place during day three of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium when he was struck on the hand. Trent Boult will return to the country at the end of the Test match to get proper treatment and thus will not feature in the final game of the series.

The left-handed fast bowler, who missed the first Test match came back into the second Test in place of Lockie Ferguson. But the Boult didn’t have a great game as he managed to pick only one wicket in the first innings and remained wicketless in the second innings. Despite not in a great form, Trent Boult can change the face of the match on any given day, and New Zealand will undoubtedly miss him. Meanwhile, the Kiwis are yet to announce any replacement of Boult.

Speaking of the game, Australia sit on the driver’s seat as they lead by 456 runs in the second innings with six wickets still in hand. The host will look to post a massive total and push New Zealand out of the game by picking early wickets to seal the Test series with one match still to play.
