For the first time owing to the current tour of New Zealand, the Indian fans will witness Trent Boult being in the action for the Kiwis. The flamboyant cricketer has always been a trump card for the Black Caps and he wants to play a similar role for the team against the Virat Kohli-led Indian National Cricket Team.

The speedster Boult was out of action for the past six weeks owing to a fracture on his right hand sustained during the Boxing Day Test against Australia.

Boult, who has 256 wickets from 65 Tests, is included in the team alongside fellow quicks Southee, Neil Wagner, Kyle Jamieson and Ajaz Patel, who is an alone spin option.

Speaking ahead of the Test series, Boult stated that he can’t wait to get into the middle for New Zealand and test his skills against a player like Kohli. He wants to test himself out against strong opposition like India. Boult wants to push himself to deliver the best for the team.

“That’s personally why I play the game, to get guys like that (Kohli) out and test myself against them, so I can’t wait to get stuck in. But he’s an exceptional player. Everyone knows how great he is. I think it is what it is. I have just got to put the last six or so weeks behind me and just back myself to get out there and do my thing,” the seamer said.

Further, Boult hopes Wellington would provide a decent wicket for the Test match. He believes the surface to be true for the five days–to deliver the best for the fans, who witness the game closely for obvious reasons.

“I’m preparing for a solid wicket. It generally is very good here and goes the full distance (five days). I do enjoy playing here, the history that’s involved, and it’s going to be an exciting week building up. I can’t wait to get out there,” Boult said ahead of the first Test match which starts in Wellington on Friday.

All in all, the return of Boult is a massive boost for New Zealand. It would be interesting to see how he delivers against a class team like India.
