Trevor Bayliss, the Head Coach of England cricket team, is looking forward to stepping aside from coaching the Twenty20 International side.

Bayliss recently raised voice against the shortest format of the game and voiced an opinion to scrap the T20I format.

Him, looking forward to stepping aside from this format, also doesn’t come as a surprise, especially after his comments on the shortest format.

“The short answer is probably ‘yes’. Eventually, you will have specialist coaches as well. That will obviously be a discussion with higher levels, with (ECB director of cricket) Andrew Strauss and people like that. If that was what they thought was the way to go ahead, I’d be all for it. If not, I am more than happy to keep going and work with these guys towards that next T20 World Cup,” Bayliss said on being asked regarding the requirement of specialist T20 coaches.

It is to be noted that Trevor Bayliss had already announced that he would step aside from the role after 2019 Ashes.

Also, with next T20 World Cup in 2020, it’s also apt for him to leave the job so as the T20 side coach can work with the players keeping in mind the next World Cup.

Australia, recently, made a surprising appointment in form of Ricky Ponting as the T20I assistant coach.

It was the first step towards different coaches for various formats.

In past, Darren Lehmann – Australia’s Head Coach – has missed a couple of limited-overs series and Ponting could take over this job on permanent basis, soon.

Last year, in fact, Australia had to announce a whole new T20I side after their Test players were in India for the series.

That time, Justin Langer took over the Head Coach job.

Jason Gillespie and Ricky Painting assisted him during the three T20Is against Sri Lanka.

With Lehmann also stepping aside after 2019 Ashes, Australia have already moved ahead of him in the shortest format of the game.

Meanwhile, Australia are all set to face New Zealand in the final of T20I tri-series on February 21 in Auckland.

Australia qualified for the final after winning all four league stage games.

On the other hand, Kiwis made it to to the finals by virtue of having better NRR than England, to whom they lost the last league stage contest.

After the completion of the series, David Warner, who is also a part of Test side, will fly to South Africa for the four-match Test series.

While New Zealand will continue their home season as they have an ODI and Test series lined-up against England, who will enter their last leg of the tour to this part of the world.
