India won the toss and chose to field first in the second T20I of the Nidahas Trophy 2018 at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo.

Bangladesh starts their campaign in the Nidahas Trophy by facing India who lost their first match against the hosts by five wickets on Tuesday at the same venue.

However, Bangladesh’s most experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has already been ruled out of the series due to a finger injury.

Middle-order batsman Mahmudullah Riyad will lead the side in Shakib’s absence.

India, on the other hand, will be looking forward to making a comeback in the series as they have already lost a match. Another loss will hamper their chances of qualifying for the final.

Rohit Sharma said: “We are going to field first. The wicket got better and better the other day. Why not use it to our advantage. I believe in backing the players in the first place. There will be times like these, that teach us. It’s important to back the players and give them opportunities.”

Mahmudullah said: “I would have bowled first. Anyway, we have to bat first, put up a good show and put up a good score. We need to executive skills and try to be calm. We are going with 5 bowlers and 6 batters.”
