India, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, has had a smooth run so far in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. They have topped the group stages and is a good place in the ongoing semifinal against New Zealand before rain played a spoilsport in Manchester. But former India skipper Gautam Gambhir has once again criticised Kohli’s captaincy saying that he is nothing as a skipper.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Gambhir has slammed Virat Kohli for his leadership abilities. During the Indian Premier League earlier this year, Gautam Gambhir had constantly criticised Kohli, saying that that he is lucky to be leading Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is once again at his best coming down heavily on Kohli, the captain. But the India skipper had a good World Cup leading the team from the front as they eye their third World Cup trophy.

The former cricketer who recently joined politics admitted that he is a fan of Virat Kohli’s batting and that he is among the top four batsmen in the world. But Gautam Gambhir said that Kohli is a poor captain and it is the presence of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni that has made things easy for Kohli. Gambhir cited the example of Kohli’s poor track record as captain in IPL to prove his claim.

“Virat Kohli is a good captain for India only because he has MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma behind him. If you are talking about Kohli the captain, he would have won RCB an IPL title since he has taken over the captaincy there. Most of the times his team RCB has finished on number 8,” Gambhir said to a new channel.

“Virat as a batsman is in top four, but as a captain, he is way below Dhoni and Rohit. There is no one to give advice when Kohli leads RCB,” he added.
