Indian limited overs team suffered a huge blow as their talisman fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is ruled out of ODI series. Bumrah was initially ruled out of the T20I series when he suffered a blow to his left thumb in the first T20I against Ireland.

Thus, Shardul Thakur is added to the Indian team squad. Therefore, it would be a perfect opportunity for the Mumbai paceman to prove his mettle in the English conditions.

The Mumbai fast bowler is part of the Indian team limited overs set up in the recent past. The pacer has played three One Day Internationals and three T20I for the Men in Blue.

It would be a good chance for the Mumbai pacer.

Meanwhile, the Indian team bowling battery is struggling with the injuries. Washington Sundar had suffered an ankle injury while playing football in the training session. Therefore, the young sensation was ruled out of both the limited overs leg after suffering an injury in an unfortunate manner.

Thus, Deepak Chahar had replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the T20I side. Furthermore, Axar Patel had replaced Sundar for the One-Day side.

Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur recently played for the IPL 2018 champions Chennai Super Kings. Thus, it would be a perfect opportunity for the 26-year old fast bowler to leave his mark. Therefore, he would like to prove his mettle in the ODI series set up.

However, it would be difficult for Shardul Thakur to fill in the big shoes of Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian pack leader has achieved great success in the limited overs format.

Shardul Thakur was part of the India A squad which is also on England tour. In the four matches, Thakur took eight wickets. Moreover, he took two wickets in the final against England Lions.

However, the Twitter family doesn’t believe that Shardul Thakur is the ideal replacement for Bumrah.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Shardul Thakur inclusion in the Indian ODI team:
