ToggleAfter a below-par outing in the first Test against South Africa, team India skipper Virat Kohli was in his elements in the second Test in Pune. After a good show from Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara, Kohli looked confident throughout his knock to bring his 26th Test hundred.

The host made a commanding start to the Test match with a century from Mayank and a fifty from Pujara after losing Rohit Sharma early. The pair added 100+runs for the second wicket to set the tone tackling a hostile period of fast bowling from the South African fast bowlers.
While both the set batsmen got out after reaching individual milestones, Virat Kohli looked calm and composed to carry the innings from there. India ended at 273 for three with Kohli unbeaten on 63 and looking well set for a century.

The first hour of the morning session along belonged to India. The host didn’t lose a wicket against the second new ball and added 41 runs to the overnight score. Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada were tight with their lines and lengths in the first 30 minutes.
They induced a couple of outside edges but weren’t lucky as they didn’t carry to the fielders in the cordon. Virat Kohli looked well-poised to convert his fifty to a daddy hundred after failing to put runs in the first Test. While he looked a bit cautious in the 90s, Ajinkya Rahane played some shots to bring up his fifty.
Kohli reached the landmark with a fine boundary and soon erupted in joy. His knock was filled with 16 boundaries and will hope to make it big as India look to post a good total on the board.

Virat Kohli's conversion rate of 50 to 100 is second to Sir Don Bradman. The Indian captain makes run-scoring like a stroll in the park. Top consistency level. #INDvSA
