Twitter Hails Rohit Sharma For His Outstanding Effort On The Field

West Indies made a great start to the series against India posting 207 runs after batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. While there were lapses in fielding from India’s part, vice-captain Rohit Sharma was outstanding on the field, especially in the boundary.

Apart from Lendl Simmons, every one of the West Indies batsmen contributed to this massive total. Evin Lewis set the tone when he started the game with a four and six off Washington Sundar. He and Brandon King ensured that the powerplay does not go to waste as they raced to 66 despite losing Simmon early in the second over of the match off Deepak Chahar.

Once the duo was dismissed, Shimron Hetmyer and skipper Kieron Pollard took over the baton and just carried on with the carnage. They added a 73-run stand in quick time, and the southpaw even recorded his maiden T20I fifty as Indian bowlers struggled to find a breakthrough. Yuzvendra Chahal although picked two quick wickets but Jason Holder ensured West Indies finish on a high.

Holder capped off the innings with an excellent little cameo to take the score over 200. India were very poor in the field and ordinary with some of their bowling. While the Men in Blues were heavily criticised for being sloppy on the pitch, Rohit Sharma was at his athletic best. There were criticisms over his fitness, and the Team India vice-captain has put all those to rest with his spectacular fielding.

The incident took place in the 16th over when Rohit Sharma made two outstanding saves from consecutive deliveries to give the fans something to cheer. He brought an excellent save as the was ball racing towards the boundary after Washington Sundar missed an easy catch. Off the very next ball, Rohit almost pulled off a one-handed stunner but released the ball to save runs for his side.

Social media was in awe of Rohit Sharma for his outstanding effort on the cricket field, and they can’t stop praising the swashbuckling batsman. However, he couldn’t convert that brilliance with the bat as he got out cheaply.
