Wriddhiman Saha, on Tuesday, celebrated his recall to SunRisers Hyderabad’s playing eleven with a sensational knock of 87 against Delhi Capitals. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s knock came off just 45 balls and was studded with 12 fours and a couple of sixes.

SRH included him in the playing eleven in the place of Priyam Garg and the India Test star fully justified the faith shown in him. Promoted to open the innings, Wriddhiman Saha took the Delhi Capitals’ attack to the cleaners and helped SRH pile up a mammoth total of 219 for 2 in the must-win clash.

He and SRH skipper David Warner came out all guns blazing with the bat after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited the Hyderabad-based outfit to bat first. The duo added 107 runs in less than ten overs before Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Warner for 66.

It, however, did not affect SRH’s momentum as Wriddhiman Saha and Manish Pandey kept playing the big shots at will. The two added 63 runs for the second wicket before Anrich Nortje sent back Saha. Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson then ensured SRH finish on a strong note.

Meanwhile, the cricketing fraternity was quick to praise Wriddhiman Saha for his scintillating knock.

Here are some of the reactions to his knock:

Meanwhile, SRH are currently at the seventh spot in the points table with just 4 wins from 11 games. They need to win the ongoing game against Delhi at any cost to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. A defeat, on the other hand, will make them the second team after Chennai Super Kings to be eliminated from the playoff race this season.
