Renowned Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away at the age of 53. After his concert in Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha auditorium on Tuesday, he went to his hotel where he collapsed and he was rushed to CMRI hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The year 2022 has been a Black year for the Indian music industry as music icons like Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri, Sidhu Moose Wala and KK have passed away.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, who was born on 23 August 1968, recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages.

KK, who released his first album, Pal in 1999, gave many hit songs like Tadap Tadap (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999), Dus Bahane (Dus, 2005), and Tune Maari Entriyaan (Gunday, 2014).

Krishnakumar Kunnath, who was a very versatile singer, also gave songs like “Khuda Jaane”, “Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai” and “Awarapan Banjarapan”, which are extraordinary and everlasting songs.

Meanwhile, cricketers, political leaders, actors and fans fondly remembered the singer and his everlasting songs in their condolence tweets.

Veteran Indian commentator and journalist Harsha Bhogle expressed shock at KK’s demise. He wrote:

“Can’t believe we have lost KK! Such happy memories of his fabulous performances and time spent together in Istanbul. Such a cool, chilled out person.”

“Absolutely saddened by the passing away of KK. What a lovely singer he was! Sang every composition optimally, which made us hum his songs long after hearing them. Aankhon mein teri ajab si ajab si adaa hai.. ?RIP KK,” Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar stated.

“Life is so uncertain and fragile! Sad news about the tragic passing away of KK. May god grant strength to his family to bear with this loss. Om Shanti,” World Cup-winning all-rounder Yuvraj Singh tweeted.

“Tragic to hear about the passing away of KK after falling ill while performing in Kolkata. Another reminder of how fragile life is. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti,” former India opener Virender Sehwag tweeted.
