Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs to secure their passage to the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
Chasing 188, Royal Challengers Bangalore were off to a solid start with Parthiv Patel and Virat Kohli coming out all guns blazing. Royal Challengers crossed the 50-run mark in the fifth over before Kagiso Rabada dismissed Parthiv to end the 63-run stand. Five runs later, Kohli departed too before AB de Villiers and Shivam Dube joined hands. The two took the score past the 100-run mark but the chase soon fell off the track.
The Royal Challengers lost de Villiers, Dube and Heinrich Klaasen in a space of eight runs to find themselves reeling at 111 for 5 from 103 for 2. However, Gurkeerat Man and Marcus Stoinis steadied the ship and brought down the equation to 30 from the last two overs. But Ishant Sharma bowled a brilliant 19th over as he conceded just 4 while picking up the wicket of Gurkeerat. Rabada then defended the 26 runs in the final over to take Delhi home.
Batting first, Delhi Capitals put up a competitive total of 187 for 5. The hosts were off to good start with Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw adding 35 runs in just 21 balls before the latter departed. Dhawan and skipper Shreyas Iyer then laid the foundation for the big total by adding 68 runs for the second wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal ended the stand when he dismissed his India teammate Dhawan for exactly 50.

Iyer reached his fifty too before Delhi lost him, Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram in quick succession to find themselves reeling at 141 for 5. Delhi were in danger of ending their innings meekly before Sherfane Rutherford and Axar Patel joined hands. The two shared an unbeaten 46-run stand to take Delhi to over 180. Rutherford remained unbeaten on 28 off 13 with the help of 1 four and 3 sixes while Axar hit 3 fours in his 16-run knock.

Huge achievement if RCB win this without major contributions from Kohli and ABD

Fast, wide yorker has to be the worst death overs ball. Fraught with risk and hardly any chance of getting a wicket on it. #ipl2019

58 runs off 27 deliveries after Iyer's dismissal. Well done Rutherford, Axar and @DelhiCapitals ?

Spare a thought for Parthiv Patel .. he has played with all heart despite things being so gloomy back home with his father being critical . Prayers. #DCvRCB

Kohli being the captain of the Indian Cricket team and having a say in the team selection, has power. So when he bullies players on ground, it gets a bit awkward for other Indian players. It isn't just banter. #DCvRCB

The greatest mathematicians on this planet are RCB fans during late April – Early May.#DCvRCB #IPL2019

If in the heat of the moment he tells a junior player to "fuck off" that will keep playing in the junior's head for the entire match and beyond. "Will this jeopardize my Team Cap"
Kohli should realize the disproportionate power equation & act responsibly in the IPL #DCvRCB
