Team India was once again at their usual business as they took honours on day one of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Mohammed Shami was at his best and with supports from Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav, the host wrapped up Bangladesh for a mere 150 runs.

The visiting side missed a trick after opting to bat on a wicket laden with moisture in the morning. The Indian pacers extracted movement aplenty and bowled testing lines on a pitch with a tinge of green that they made the most of. The likes of Umesh and Shami soon reduced Bangladesh to 31 for three before Mushfiqur Rahim and skipper Mominul Haque looked to build a partnership.

They went to lunch unscathed but Ravichandran Ashwin struck moments after the break to break the 68-run partnership for the fourth wicket. He was unlucky in the morning session and a few missed chances piled up his misery. But he bounced back to knock off the stumps of Bangladesh skipper before getting the better of Mahmudullah.

Struggling at 115 for five, Bangladesh had pinned their hopes on Mushfiqur Rahim to play a big knock. India skipper Virat Kohli sensing some reverse swing off the pitch brought Mohammed Shami back in the attack, who announced his arrival the big wicket of Mushfiqur.

Shami knocked off the stumps the Bangladesh batsman with an inswinger and backed it up with Mehedy Hasan’s golden duck as Bangladesh faltered. India took hardly any time to pick the final three wickets after three to pack the visitors at 150 before coming out to bat.

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal took control with the bat after losing Rohit Sharma early. Pujara remained unbeaten on 43 while Agarwal will go back at the score of 37 as India still trail by 64 runs with nine wickets in hand at the end of day one.
