India dominate day 1

India started the match as per the script knocking Bangladesh top-order early with the pink ball. The in-form pacers – Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami combined well to reduce the visitors to 38 for five. The Bangladeshi batters were left in tatters as they had no answers to India’s pacers. Two batsmen had to rush to the hospital after getting hit by Shami bouncers.

Injured Liton Das was the highest run-scorer for Bangladesh with 24 runs including five boundaries while Ishant Sharma entered the record books with a five-wicket haul. Umesh Yadav claimed three while Mohammed Shami returned with two to add to his seven from the first match.

In the process, Kohli became the first Indian captain to score 5000 Test runs. With Rahane and Kohli in the crease, the top-ranked Test team will hope to come all guns blazing on day two to pocket a massive lead.
