Twitter Reacts As Rajasthan Royals Beat Chennai Super Kings By 7 Wickets

Rajasthan Royals [RR] completed a commanding seven-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings [CSK] in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Chasing 126, Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered an early collapse with Deepak Chahar and Josh Hazlewood accounting for the trio of Robin Uthappa, Ben Stokes, and Sanju Samson, who was caught brilliantly by MS Dhoni down the leg-side.

Steve Smith struggled to get going throughout his innings while Jos Buttler too was circumspect at the start.

With the score reading 3-66 after 11 overs, it looked like another cliffhanger was on the cards. But Jos Buttler proceeded to shift gears in the Shardul Thakur over (12th) by smashing him for a four and a six.

The right-hander then proceeded to smash Piyush Chawla for three successive boundaries to bring up his 2nd fifty of the tournament.

Buttler, who had scored his first 28 runs in.23 balls, scored his next 42 runs in just 24 balls to hand his side a much-needed seven-wicket win in the 18th over.

CSK posted 5-125 in 20 overs in what was another snoozefest of a batting performance against RR

Batting first, CSK showed a bit of intent in the powerplay, with Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, and Sam Curran taking the attack to RR bowlers.

After Faf du Plessis registered another failure, Watson and Curran upped the ante by taking on Karthik Tyagi.

Watson smashed Tyagi for two boundaries in the 4th over but the young fast bowler had his revenge in the same over as the Australian chipped one straight to Rahul Tewatia at midwicket. Ambati Rayudu too came all guns blazing, smashing Ben Stokes for two boundaries in his first few balls. But that was all CSK had to show as far as the intent was concerned.

After the powerplay, the former champions lost Curran and Rayudu, who had by then slowed down considerably, in quick succession, with the score reading 4-56 after 10 overs.

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja failed to up the ante in the next set of 10 overs as just 51 runs came in 7.4 overs before CSK skipper was once again run-out on a run-a-ball 28.

CSK scored just 36 runs in the last five overs, eventually finishing with 5-125 in 20 overs.
