Twitter Reacts As The Former Great Anil Kumble Turns 48-Year-old; 619 Test wickets, 337 ODI wickets, a 10-wicket haul in a single inning and the century at The Oval; I strongly believe that you already got the owner name of those records. Yes, Anil Kumble, it is. And, he is celebrating his 48th birthday tonight. Meanwhile, Twitterati can’t stop themselves from sending their wishes to the greatest personality in Indian Cricket.
Anil Kumble – A Great Character
The stalwart Indian cricketer handed his services for India in many major aspects of the game. Initially, he started as a bowler then showed his mojo in batting as well.
Further, he went on to lead the Indian team successfully before taking the coaching reigns for the Indian Senior Team. Besides that, he also had an eventful career in the Indian Premier League as well.
Apart from all these achievements, the incident which always reminds of him is his heroics in overseas series. That was the time when BCCI selectors are not at all in favour of picking Anil Kumble for the overseas tour.
However, the then skipper Sourav Ganguly pressured selectors to pick at the expense of his captaincy. Anil Kumble hasn’t broken the trust of Ganguly, as he gave great returns and finished the series with the highest wickets.
Such has been Anil Kumble’s dominance during his era. He finished his career as the leading wicket-taker for India across the formats. Still, he is the leading wicket-taker for India in Test cricket with 619 wickets to his name.
However, his recent role as a head coach for India hasn’t gone well, as he ended up having a dispute with the skipper Virat Kohli. Despite the things didn’t pan out well, he obtained a greater success for Team India, as a head coach.
