Team India, who came out a with same playing XI were put to bat first after Kieron Pollard won the toss in Thiruvanthapuram. The start was once again not good as KL Rahul got out cheaply and India played the masterstroke by promoting all-rounder Shivam Dube in the top-order. The Mumbai-born cricketer, who impressed in domestic cricket with his powerful hitting took the West Indies bowlers by surprise.
Dube, who struggled to get going initially, unleashed a carnage as the host crossed the 50-run mark before losing Rohit Sharma, who once again failed to convert the start. Struggling at 56 for two, Virat Kohli came to the crease, who initially took a second fiddle with Shivam Dube dominating the proceedings. He soon brought his first international fifty including three fours and four sixes. Seeking an opportunity to bounce back, West Indies got the big fish Virat Kohli soon after to have India at 120 for four in 13.2 overs.

If the 3rd umpire is judging no balls now, he should also call the tight on the line wides.

Very thoughtful of @imVkohli to allow Shivam Dube to show if he’s got it in him #INDvsWI

Virat v Williams is getting to be a riveting contest. Latter’s day today. And with Kohli’s dismissal, West Indies have a spring in their step. Match doesn’t look lost already.

Huge cheer around the stadium as a player walks out in training gear.. No, it isn't Virat Kohli. It is Sanju Samson!

Only Rishabh Pant has managed to get off to a good start today. Not the easiest surface. These might be enough unless there is a lot more dew

Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Shivam Dube all in the same team. Can't wait for RCB to score 250 runs and still lose the game. #IndvWI

West Indies have clawed back into the match impressively. Dew factor works again India’s bowlers, but 170 is a very competitive score on this pitch

#INDvWI poor show by India. Missing ball after ball, completely missing slower balls. Shows again if top 3 fail, India fails. Middle order problems continue. Saved by Dube.#RishabhPant looks shabby as always, swinging away connecting few. Is he better than Sanju? Seriously?
