The highly anticipated first qualifier of Indian Premier League (IPL) finally kicked off at the Wankhede Stadium with the clash of table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings.

MS Dhoni won the toss and had no hesitation about bowling first. The move immediately paid dividends as Deepak Chahar dismissed Shikhar Dhawan on the very first delivery of the match.

Man of the match from the ultimate game of the round-robin league, Lungi Ngidi, dismissed Shreevats Goswami by pulling off a blinder on his follow through.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will consider themselves unlucky as the Orange Cap holder, Kane Williamson, along with Shakib Al Hasan were dismissed off loose deliveries going down the leg side.

Along with the two unfortunate dismissals, there were several soft dismissals, including that of Yusuf Pathan and Manish Pandey. Sunrisers were in deep trouble at 88-6, with five overs to go, as many expected them to get bowled out.

Dwayne Bravo pulled off a spectacular catch on his follow through, to trump the efforts of Ngidi earlier. Bravo ended up with impressive figures of 2-25 in his four overs, not being used as a death bowler. A role in which he struggled this season.

Thanks to a priceless knock from Carlos Brathwaite, Sunrisers crawled towards a target of 139. Unused almost throughout the tournament, Brathwaite smashed the finishing blows for his 43 off just 29 balls, to play the knock of the innings.
