Twitter Sends Birthday Greetings To "The Wall" Rahul Dravid
Updated - 11 Jan 2020, 02:54 PM
On this day, 47 years ago, a child was born, who took the game of cricket, as his profession and showed the real meaning of the gentleman sport. He went on to become a stalwart figure in India for his stunning records across the formats and also handing his services for the betterment of Indian Cricket at the world stage.
The wall of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid turns 47 on Saturday. With over 24000 international runs and 489 centuries, Dravid is right up there on the list of India’s greatest cricketers. Since making his debut against England at Lord’s in 1996, Dravid is and continues to be a flag-bearer of Indian cricket.
Rahul Dravid played for 16 Years:
After finishing as a cricketer in 2012, bringing an end to a 16-year-long career, he continued to serve Indian cricket – first as coach of India A and Under 19 teams and currently as the director of the National Cricket Academy. For a significant part of his 16-year Test career, Dravid was the defence in India’s star-studded batting lineup that also included Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
Humbleness was his utmost quality. He went on to play 164 Tests, 334 ODIs and 1 T20I in an illustrious career lasting for over 16 years. Dravid is still the only Indian apart from Sachin Tendulkar to have scored more than 10,000 runs in Tests and ODIs.
Regarded as one of the best Test cricketers, Dravid did have very good ODI numbers to his credit too. He scored 10889 runs in 334 ODIs at an average of 39.16 but his record in Tests was impeccable – 13288 runs at a staggering average of 52.31 including 36 centuries, once again the best after Tendulkar among Indian batsmen.

And also, Dravid was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame for delivering great services to the Indian National Cricket Team.

From my understanding, I thought grinding only happens in the kitchen in the Mixer Grinder, but Dravid taught one can grind on the cricket pitch as well. We had it All when we had the Wall !#HappyBirthdayRahulDravid pic.twitter.com/eUVkpTtF8n
